Princeston-Westford renderingA Lowell-based multifamily developer has the green light to begin construction on 200 luxury apartments in Westford.

Princeton Properties has permits in place to begin building five four-story buildings containing 48 one-bedroom units and 152 two-bedroom units at 16 Littleton Road.

Far from the ultra-small apartments being built in Boston, the Westford units will average 1,128 square feet. Parking at the property will total 360 spaces including 38 detached garages. The property will feature a "clubhouse" with a fitness center, meeting space, swimming pool and a café with wireless Internet.

Princeton Properties, which owns and manages more than 6,000 apartments in four states, has partnered with Guggenheim Real Estate to finance the project. Construction will start in earnest later this summer, with the first units being occupied in the summer of 2014, according to a statement.

"It is clearly a win/win for everyone involved, bringing much needed rental housing to Westford – an affluent town in the 495 corridor which is already booming on the retail, office and industrial side of the real estate spectrum," Dan Endyke, Princeton senior vice president, said in a statement.
