A 23-unit condo project at 39 A St. in South Boston was approved by the Boston Redevelopment Authority.

The single-story industrial building on the 7,364-square-foot lot will be demolished to make way for a five-story, 24,650-square-foot residential building designed by Tim Johnston Architect.

The building will contain 23 homeownership units, including three designated as affordable, and 30 ground-level parking spaces. East Way Development LLC agreed to widen sidewalks along A and Silver Streets and plant new trees as community benefits.
