2 Washington St.Developer Wood Partners LLC will break ground in June on a 94-unit apartment complex at 2 Washington St. in Melrose.

2 Washington is the company’s second development in Melrose and eighth in Greater Boston since 2008.

Designed by Boston-based architects Bargmann Hendrie + Archetype, the 130,000-square-foot, five-story building will be located on a 2.4-acre former industrial parcel in a 15-acre Smart Growth zone created by the city in 2008. Construction is expected to be complete in September 2015.

Marietta, Ga.-based Wood Partners owns 77 multifamily properties in the U.S. with more than 20,000 units. It has local offices in Lexington.
