Kaplan Development Group of Jericho, New York has proposed a 54,000-square-foot assisted living facility in Wareham’s Rosebrook Business Park.

Representatives from the developer and park owner A.D. Makepeace Co. made a presentation on the 58-unit facility to the Wareham planning board this week to kick off the permitting process.

The project would generate up to 70 jobs and cater to the region’s growing elderly population, Makepeace CEO Michael Hogan said in a statement.

Rosebrook Business Park and Rosebrook Place is a mixed-use development containing a 68,000-square-foot medical office facility occupied by Southcoast Health and Fresenius Medical, a TownePlace Suites by Marriott and Rosebrook Event Center, along with offices, restaurants and retailers.

Kaplan owns and operates 16 assisted living facilities in Massachusetts. The Wareham facility would include Alzheimer’s and memory care, recreation areas and onsite medical services.

A planning board review is scheduled to begin Feb. 22.
