A year ago this week, a series of devastating tornadoes ripped through a broad swath of Southern Hampden and Worcester Counties. Four people were killed, hundreds injured and thousands impacted. One year later, the cleanup continues. Banker & Tradesman revisited the hardest-hit communities to survey the scene one year removed. In places like Springfield, Monson and Brimfield, the recovery has been uneven at times, and rarely easy. But one thing no tornado could ever blow away is the quiet Yankee determination to make things right again.
