A Medford man has been charged with stealing millions of dollars from his former employer, a large construction management company in Greater Boston.
George Papadopoulos, 48, was charged with larceny over $250 by single scheme after authorities found he submitted expense reports with fake receipts and invoices. He was paid several million dollars in reimbursements for items he never actually paid for, according to Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office.
Papadopoulos served as vice president from 2007 until his departure in January 2009 at an unnamed construction company. Authorities allege that during a four-year period between 2004 through 2008, Papadopoulos regularly submitted phony expense reports to his employer.
He pleaded not guilty in Boston Municipal Court and was held on $25,000 bail. He is expected back in court Jan. 15.
