Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has opened its newest Element format hotel on D Street in South Boston.

The 180-room property across from the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center was developed by CV Properties. The Element format hotels are now open in 19 U.S. markets and feature amenities including studio-style guest rooms with fully-equipped kitchens, an indoor saline pool and fitness center, complimentary bicycles available for guests to borrow, a 24-hour pantry with fresh food available to go, a lounge and free wifi.

The $158 million complex developed by majority equity partner Ares Management and CV Properties also includes an Aloft Boston Seaport hotel, which is scheduled to open in February on a 5.2-acre parcel leased from the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. Each hotel includes more than 8,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space.
