The New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut has commissioned Boston-based Ann Beha Architects to design a building expansion.
The expansion site will add three levels of galleries, education studios and program areas. The building was originally constructed by Ann Beha Architects in 2006.
The work is being funded by a $4 million grant approved in June by the Connecticut State Bond Commission, which will be matched by private sources. Construction is slated for summer 2014 and will be completed by 2015.
"We are thrilled to again be working with Ann Beha and her outstanding team. We look forward to a seamless and beautifully designed addition that will be enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors for years to come," Douglas Hyland, museum director, said in a statement.
