Housing Corp. of Arlington (HCA) recently acquired 10 apartment units in Arlington Heights to add to the affordable housing stock in the town.
"I first spotted these units last spring," said David Levy, executive director. "When I later found out that they were on the market, I knew it would be a great opportunity for HCA as well as the Arlington community."
The purchase was made possible with donations from the town’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) fund and a construction loan from Cambridge Savings Bank.
HCA will preserve the existing units as rentals – eliminating the possibility the apartments would be lost to condominium conversion, according to Levy.
The project also received funding from several other lenders including the Massachusetts Housing Partnership and the North Suburban Consortium in Malden.
Peter Feinmann and his team at Feinmann Inc. will be doing the majority of the rehabilitation work on the two properties, providing construction and project management services.
The 10 units are located in two properties on adjacent lots. The site is convenient to public transportation, and each of the units includes parking, HCA said.
