The Armenian Heritage Park, located on the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway in Boston, will break ground on Sept. 9 at 2 p.m.

"The park creates a link between the North End and downtown while it commemorates and celebrates Armenian and other immigrant experiences in America," according to a statement. "The park will commemorate lives lost during the 1915 Armenian Genocide and all genocides that have followed and will celebrate the immigrant experience, paying tribute to immigrant Americans who distinguished themselves in the arts, sciences, education, commerce and public service."

Once the park is completed, it will feature a reflecting pool, a sculpture, which reconfigures annually, to honor the immigrant experience, and a labyrinth of grass and inlaid stone.
