AvalonBay Communities Inc., an owner and builder of apartments with a strong presence in the Bay State, has promoted Bill McLaughlin to executive vice president.
McLaughlin, a 16-year veteran of the company, has overall responsibility for development and construction for the Northeast.
AvalonBay has developments in several Bay State cities and towns, including Boston, Acton, Weymouth, Randolph, Hingham, Danvers and Lexington.
He joined AvalonBay Communities in 1994 as a development director in the Boston office, before being promoted to vice president of development with responsibility for all development in the Boston region. In 2002, he became senior vice president of development, overseeing development activity in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey. In 2009, he became head of development and construction for the Northeast.
Sean Breslin and Steve Wilson have also been promoted to executive vice presidents.
Breslin, who joined AvalonBay in 2002, oversees redevelopment and asset management nationally, including the market research function. He most recently served as senior vice president – redevelopment and asset management, where he has focused his efforts on building a redevelopment team.
Wilson, who has been with AvalonBay for 12 years, has overall responsibility for development and construction for the West Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions. He began his career with the company in 1998 in the Seattle office, before relocating to California.
The three new EVPs will become members of AvalonBay’s executive committee.
