B’nai B’rith Housing, a regional not‐for‐profit housing development organization, has awarded its 2012 Distinguished Achievement Award to Richard J. Henken, president of Schochet Companies. The award will be presented at the group’s annual dinner on June 4 at the Harvard Club.

"Rick is a wonderful guy who exemplifies what so many in our industry do to help make the world a better place," said Susan Gittelman, executive director of B’nai B’rith Housing. "He leads by example, whether that be through his professional endeavors or his charitable acts."

Henken is being honored for his work acquiring, preserving, and managing affordable housing. Henken joined the Schochet Companies in 1997, becoming president of Schochet Associates and Federal Management Co., Inc. in 2004. Under his direction the team has completed transactions exceeding more than $400 million, highlighted by the acquisition and preservation as affordable of more than 2,500 apartments in 15 developments.
