John MorleyThe Bank of Easton’s board of directors recently promoted John Morley to chief executive officer and president.

Morley succeeds Thomas Caron, who retired from his post about a month ago. Morley served as interim president between Caron’s retirement and his own appointment to the position.

"I’m very excited and very proud to have the opportunity to be the president and CEO of the Bank of Easton. I’ve been here for 15 years. I’ve lived here for 17 years. I’m deeply entrenched in the community through various endeavors," Morley told Banker & Tradesman. "I worked with Tom Caron for the 15 years that I was here. Tom hired me as CFO back in 1998."

Caron served as bank president for 28 years and left recently to spend time with his family, though Morley added, "He’s a young 60, so it wouldn’t shock me at all to see him back in the banking industry sometime in the future."

Morley previously worked for the bank as a senior vice president and chief financial officer. Before that, he was treasurer of the Hibernia Savings Bank and audit manager at Wolf & Co., P.C. for 12 years. He is a graduate of Boston College.
