Fall River’s BankFive made two holiday donations of $500 to two local food pantries.
The food pantries receiving the donations were New Bedford’s M.O. Life Food Pantry and The Greater Fall River Community Food Pantry, according to a statement.
"Shrinking budgets have caused many local community organizations to cut back just as the need for services has risen," said Thomas F. Lyons, president and CEO of BankFive. "We hope our donations will aid these two organizations in providing meals to many families this holiday season."
BankFive’s donation will allow The Greater Fall River Community Food Pantry to purchase more than 2,500 canned goods, which will be distributed directly to families, according to Michelle Moniz, a board of director for the organization.
