The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage in the state dropped to 4.79 percent last week, down from 4.9 percent the prior week, according to online mortgage tracker Zillow.
Nationwide, the average rate declined to 4.76 percent, down from 4.8 percent compared to this same time last week.
The biggest change was in California, where the average rate spiked 20 percentage points to 4.91 percent, up from 4.71 percent the prior week. In Colorado, the average rate dropped to 4.76 percent, from 4.88 percent the prior week.
