Fall River-based BayCoast Bank plans to open a branch in Dartmouth.

The bank recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new location at 299 State Road. Construction of the 2,300-square-foot facility is expected to be completed in January 2014, and there are plans for a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony to be held early that year.

"Although it feels as if we are already an integral part of the Dartmouth community through our charitable giving and the exceptional service we provide to our customers in the area, we look forward to solidifying our place in the town with the construction of this new location," Nicholas Christ, president and CEO, said in a statement.

The building is designed by Vision 3 Architects and built by R.P. Valois & Co., with landscaping by Stephanie Fuss Assoc. LLC.  The project is being managed by PACE Project Management Inc.
