Boston College High School recently received an $8 million loan from RBS Citizens to finance the construction of a new 28,000 square-foot performing arts and student center.

The building, Cadigan Hall, is scheduled to open in time for the 2013 school year. It is named for Patrick F. Cadigan, a 1952 graduate of BC High who donated $12 million to fund the project. The loan from RBS Citizens will be used as a bridge loan to finance the project as the gift is received in installments over seven years.

"Cadigan Hall is a very special addition to our campus and we thank RBS Citizens for its continued support and partnership," BC High School President Bill Kemeza said in a statement. "This facility will be utilized by thousands of young men in the years to come, continuing our strong tradition of providing a wide range of opportunities and learning experiences for our students."

"RBS Citizens is proud to continue our relationship with BC High, which has a well-deserved reputation for educational excellence and a 150-year track record of producing business, civic and religious leaders in our community and around the world," Jerry Sargent, president of RBS Citizens and Citizens Bank, Massachusetts, said in a statement.
