Trinity Financial’s One Canal apartment and retail project in the Bulfinch Triangle has been designed to accommodate a grocery store and was given the green light by the Boston Civic Design Commission (BCDC) last night.
The news follows contradictory recent media reports that said Stop & Shop was no longer in talks with the Boston Redevelopment Authority to open a supermarket in the area. City Hall sources told Banker & Tradesman that those conversations never actually stopped.
Nancy Ludwig, president of ICON Architecture, which designed the project, said no specific plans have been made for the retail space yet. However, the retail portion of the project could support a grocer if one chose to rent the approximately 20,000-square-foot retail portion of the project, which includes 320 luxury residential units.
