L. Knife & Son Inc. has secured $1.7 million in government incentives to help purchase and renovate an abandoned, industrial building in Everett.
The 114-year-old company is a family-owned distributor of imported ales and lagers. The company said that Medway-based Business Development Strategies Inc., a government incentives consulting firm, helped identify and negotiate a $1.5 million, four-year special tax assessment from the city of Everett. An additional $260,000 was awarded by the state, and the entire incentive package was awarded at a Sept. 26 meeting of the state Economic Assistance Coordinating Council (EACC)
L. Knife is the parent company of the Craft Brewers Guild of Boston, which will relocate from Danvers into the 200,000-square-foot facility at 201 Beacham St. in Everett.
The company plans to create 20 new jobs, with a total 100 jobs in Everett. It plans to spend a total of $13.4 million to purchase and renovate the building.
