Belmont Savings Bank announced last week it would close its Cushing Square branch early next year.

In a letter to customers, the bank said that it anticipated no disruption in service upon closing the 78 Trapelo Road branch and that all the accounts at that branch would be automatically transferred to its branch at 277 Trapelo Road.

"The decision to close the Cushing Square branch was a practical one, given its close proximity to two other full service Belmont Savings Bank branches," President and CEO Robert Mahoney said in a statement.

All the employees at its Cushing Square branch will be transferred to other branches, the bank said.

Earlier this year, Belmont Savings Bank opened two full-service, in-store branches inside Shaw’s Supermarkets in nearby towns.
