After 22 years, Legal Sea Foods President and CEO Roger Berkowitz is stepping down from the board of directors of Cambridge-based Century Bank & Trust Co., after his election to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
The Federal Reserve post requires Berkowitz to relinquish any position he holds in any other bank, according to a statement. Berkowitz has served as an active member of the board of directors of Century Bank & Trust since 1989 and Century Bancorp Inc. – the bank’s parent company – since 1996.
"We owe a debt of gratitude to Roger for 22 years of service. During his tenure, the company’s approach to banking has grown and evolved. His vision, values and commitment to the community combined with his deep knowledge of the restaurant industry, have contributed greatly to the direction of our company," Century Bancorp Chairman Marshall M. Sloane said in a statement. "The board and I join the entire Century team in wishing Roger well in his new endeavor."
