Berkshire Bank late last week announced it closed on its recent acquisition of a Pennsylvania-based SBA lender.

In addition to adding 44 Business Capital to its small business line, the Pittsfield, Massachusetts-based bank also acquired certain other assets from the Sewell, New Jersey-based Parke Bank’s SBA 7(a) loan program operations.

“We are pleased to welcome the employees and customers of 44 Business Capital,” Berkshire Bank CEO Michael Daly said in a statement. “This combination increases the client offerings for both companies, diversifies our loan portfolio and provides a valuable future growth channel.”

44 Business Capital has been rated a top SBA originator in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., the bank said. 44 Business Capital’s entire team, along with its leadership – Greg Poehlmann, Phil Rapone, Jeff Sherry and Joe Dreyer – has joined Berkshire Bank.
