Berkshire Hills Bancorp Inc., the holding company for Berkshire Bank, has appointed John Altmeyer to its board and nominated Laurie Norton Moffatt as a director.
Altmeyer was appointed on March 18. He has served since 1997 as president and CEO of Pennsylvania-based roofing manufacturer Carlisle Syntec Inc. Prior to joining Carlisle in 1987, he worked at Syracuse-based Carrier Corporation. Altmeyer has served as a director of Beacon Federal Bancorp Inc., which was acquired by Berkshire last October, since 1992.
Altmeyer is replacing David Phelps, president and CEO of Berkshire Health Systems, who plans to step down from the board when his current term expires.
Moffatt will stand for election as a director at the 2013 annual meeting of stockholders. Moffatt currently serves as the director and CEO of the Norman Rockwell museum in Stockbridge. Moffatt has served as a delegate and speaker for the U.S. State Department. An active community leader, she is a founder of 1Berkshire and Berkshire Creative Economy Council and currently serves as a trustee of Berkshire Health Systems.
Altmeyer and Moffatt "have demonstrated career success and distinction at a national level in their fields," Berkshire Chairman, President and CEO Michael Daly said in a statement welcoming their appointment.
