The Massachusetts Association of Realtors will announce today that it has hired Eric D. Berman, a spokesman at MassHousing, as communications director.

Berman, 35, will replace John Dulczewski, who was with MAR for 17 years. Dulczewski took over as executive director of the Greater Boston Association of Realtors, a division of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, this month.

“We’re delighted that Eric will join the Realtor family as MAR’s communications director. He has great shoes to fill in former Director John Dulczewski and we know that Eric has the skills and knowledge of real estate issues to hit the ground running. We’re really looking forward to having him on our staff team,” MAR Chief Executive Officer Robert N. Authier told Banker & Tradesman.

In his new position, Berman will serve as the group’s public information officer, arranging media interviews and providing information on the housing market, industry trends and the association. He also will oversee association publications, news releases and marketing materials, and implement internal and external advertising and marketing campaigns.

Berman has spent the last six years working in the corporate communications department of MassHousing, a quasi-public agency that provides financing for affordable housing, where he handled media relations. Prior to joining MassHousing, Berman did public relations work for several companies including Harte-Hanks Direct Marketing in Billerica and Lois Paul & Partners in Burlington.

A Framingham resident, Berman has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern University’s School of Journalism. Berman assumes his new position Feb. 5.
