Stephen J. Britton has been hired as senior vice president of residential and consumer lending at Beverly Cooperative Bank.

Britton previously worked at DanversBank, where he was first vice president of mortgage and consumer lending. DanversBank was acquired by People’s United Bank last year.

Britton has also held management positions at Washington Savings Bank in Lowell, North Shore Bank in Peabody and U.S. Trust in Boston.

Britton is active in the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association, as well as a member  of the Mass. Bankers Real Estate Finance Committee, the bank said.

Beverly Cooperative has three offices: two in Beverly and one in Salem.
