MassHousing has approved Beverly Cooperative Bank as a lender for the housing agency’s "Home for the Brave" program, which aims to provide affordable, no-down payment mortgages for veterans living in Massachusetts.

"Brave men and women from Massachusetts are serving their country overseas to fight for our freedom and to protect our way of life," Gov. Deval Patrick said at the time the program was launched. "They deserve every opportunity to live the American Dream, and this program will help deserving veterans do just that."

Included among Home for the Brave program benefits:

•·                    Up to 100 percent financing.

•·                    Discounted interest rates fixed for 30 years.

•·                    Purchase or refinance loans available.

•·                    No first-time homebuyer requirement.

•·                    Mortgage insurance with MassHousing’s MI Plus.

•·                    Up to $1,500 for closing costs and down payment assistance.

The program was developed by MassHousing in consultation with the Veterans Housing Sub-Committee of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Veterans Services.
