Beverly’s Cape Ann Waldorf School has received a $1.8 million bond from MassDevelopment to purchase eight acres of land and an existing 11,000-square-foot office building on the Moraine Farm property in Beverly.
The school serves more than 130 students in nursery through grade eight, and the new property will serve as its new home beginning in the latter part of the 2010-2011 school year, according to a statement. Boston-based Wainwright Bank purchased the bonds.
"We’re pleased this low-cost financing can help the Cape Ann Waldorf School achieve its dream of ownership, especially in the beautiful setting of Moraine Farm," said MassDevelopment President and CEO Robert L. Culver. "High-quality education and enjoying open space are two hallmarks of the commonwealth, and the school will pair those traits in its new home."
"We are grateful for the opportunity provided by MassDevelopment to purchase this property to better serve families from more than 25 communities who attend our school," said Susan White, school administrator at Cape Ann Waldorf School. "We have envisioned a peaceful and beautiful setting to support health-giving learning and to foster in our students a connection to and reverence for the natural world."
