Controversial Boston sports talk radio personality Glenn "The Big O" Ordway and his wife Sarah have sold their Hanover home for a shade less than $1 million.

The 4,530-square-foot Colonial, located at 17 Whiton Court, features four bedrooms and three and a half baths and was purchased by Lawrence and Patricia Martin for $975,000, according to data obtained from The Warren Group, publisher of Banker & Tradesman. The home was built in 1999, and originally purchased by the Ordways in 2000 for $745,000. The property was assessed at $912,900 for 2010.

Ordway is best-known locally as host of AM sports talk radio station WEEI’s afternoon drive-time program "The Big Show," which regularly features local professional athletes, analysts and call-in guests discussing and arguing over the day’s sports news. A popular feature of the show is its daily "whiner line," which gives callers an outlet to vent and do occasionally humorous impressions of local sports heroes.

Ordway also spent 13 years as commentator for the Boston Celtics basketball team. For several years, he worked with legendary Boston Celtics play-by-play man Johnny Most, and even appeared as himself in an episode of Cheers in 1991.

In January 2009, it was announced that Ordway and Entercom Communications, owners of WEEI, had agreed on a 5-year contract which would pay Ordway $1 million per year.
