Robert Gallery, Bank of America Massachusetts president, has been chosen to serve as the new chair of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
His two-year term will begin May 4, when he is inaugurated at the Chamber’s 101st annual meeting and dinner. Gallery was the unanimous choice of the chamber’s executive and nominating committees, according to a statement.
"Bob Gallery has demonstrated outstanding leadership in Massachusetts for many years" said Gloria Larson, president of Bentley University and chamber chair since 2008. "His extensive experience in the financial services industry will be instrumental in Greater Boston’s advancement as one of the world’s great metropolitan regions."
"The chamber’s mission to build a strong, growing economy is more important now than ever before. I look forward to serving as chair of the chamber and helping to advance its work in leadership development, economic growth, and job creation," Gallery said.
Gallery serves as the cross-functional leader for all of Bank of America’s lines of business in the state, and is responsible for improving the customer experience and growing revenue in the region. He also leads Bank of America’s civic and philanthropic efforts in the commonwealth.
"Bob’s commendable work at Bank of America, presence in the Greater Boston community, and vision for the future make him one of the region’s most respected leaders," said Paul Guzzi, president and CEO of the chamber. "As we work to strengthen the Massachusetts economy, Bob’s leadership will be a tremendous asset."
