Real estate investment trust Boston Properties said its co-founder and CEO Edward Linde died Sunday from pneumonia complications.

Chairman and co-founder Mortimer Zuckerman has taken over as CEO, the company said.

Linde founded Boston Properties Inc. in 1970 with Zuckerman. Linde is a former president of Boston Properties, and his son Douglas is currently president of the Boston-based company. Linde was 67, according to the company’s Web site.

"We all lost a dear friend and great colleague. Ed and I started Boston Properties over 40 years ago. We spoke almost every day and found the opportunity to laugh at both the ups and downs of the real estate business," said Zuckermam. "He will be greatly missed by all of us at the company and our hearts and prayers go out to his family." (AP/Staff reports)
