New York’s independent broker-dealer Braver Stern Securities LLC has opened a new fixed income institutional sales office in Boston.

John F. Keller will head the fixed income institutional sales operations in Boston for Braver Stern, which specializes in mortgage-backed securities, according to a statement.

"We are very excited to have Mr. Keller …. join us, as [he is a] seasoned veteran and a true testament to our commitment to expand and bolster the firm’s institutional sales platform," said George Kenny, head of institutional fixed income sales at Braver Stern. "Boston is a key focus for Braver Stern and the new office will allow the firm to interact with customers directly while continuing to grow its presence in the region."

Keller was previously a portfolio manager for funds for Cambridge Place Investment Management, according to a statement.
