Brigham and Women’s Hospital has the green light to build a $450 million research and outpatient center in the Longwood Medical Area.
Public health officials approved the 10-story "Brigham Building of the Future" Wednesday because it will allow the hospital to better care for patients, according to a story in The Boston Globe.
The Public Health Council, however, stipulated the Brigham must expand interpreter services for non-English speakers and consult community advisory on how best to spend an earmarked $3.8 million on public health projects for violence prevention and improving health for minorities.
The new building will rise on a vacant lot on Fenwood Road, according to the Globe. The hospital anticipates the building will be finished in 2016.
