Construction on Bristol County Savings Bank’s (BCSB) eleventh banking office, and first in the city of New Bedford, is nearing completion.
The exterior of the 3,500-square-foot building on Ashley Boulevard is now fully enclosed with the shingle and metal roofing, windows, clapboard siding and stone veneer, and the painting close to complete.
The banking office, set to open by early June, has brought more than 200 construction jobs to the New Bedford area and will create approximately eight permanent positions, according to a statement.
The work on the interior of the branch, including a café, is also on schedule. DRL Associates of Weymouth designed the building.
Located at 1307 Ashley Boulevard (former site of Thad’s Restaurant), Bristol County Savings Bank’s new branch is similar to the bank’s Dartmouth office. It will have two drive-through lanes, a drive through ATM, a café, a coin machine and an exterior standing clock.
