The Brockton Housing Partnership, a 20-year-old alliance of local community lenders and affiliated non-profits focused on workforce housing and financial literacy, recently recognized Brockton Mayor Linda Balzotti’s efforts at improving the quality of life in the City of Champions.
Balzotti was presented with the Partnership’s Richard Carroll Award at the organization’s annual meeting last week. The award was presented by Richard Carroll, for whom it was named.
Carroll, former member of the Partnership’s board and now an independent consultant specializing in Community Reinvestment Act compliance, praised Balzotti’s work with Neighborhood Housing Services of the South Shore (NHS).
Balzotti designated NHS as a Community Housing Development Organization also provided funding to NHS for foreclosure counseling and selected it to participate in HOME down payment assistance.
Balzotti was also recognized for her leadership work with the Brockton Redevelopment Authority, the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and the city’s Receivership program to rehabilitate vacant and abandoned foreclosed properties, according to a statement.
Participating lenders in the Brockton Housing Partnership include Dedham Savings, Eastern Bank, The Bank of Canton, Mutual Bank, Rockland Trust, North Easton Savings, The Community Bank, Avon Cooperative Bank, Crescent Credit Union and HarborOne Credit Union.
