David Friedberg of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Brookline has been named the 2009 Greater Boston Realtor of the Year.
"I was shocked to receive this award," said Friedberg who became a GBAR member in 1989. "I don’t look for recognition when I am volunteering or lending a hand. I am, however, honored to receive this award and it will inspire me to continue with my efforts."
Friedberg served as GBAR president in 2008, during which time he championed an initiative to give GBAR members a two-hour module of continuing education at no cost. Also in 2008, David served as a member of the board of directors for the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
"David is an outstanding example of what it means to be a responsible professional in our industry," said GBAR President John Ranco. "It’s important to recognize those Realtors who go above and beyond."
Friedberg serves as the chairman of the GBAR Nominating Committee and sits on the boards of directors for GBAR and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.
Within the local community, David volunteers for Community Servings, a Boston-based organization that delivers free meals to people who are homebound with AIDS/HIV and other acute illnesses. He also participated in this year’s Pan-Mass Challenge and is an active supporter and fundraiser for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
In the past, David has also been awarded the Coldwell Banker President’s Council honor for exemplifying leadership and management skills.
