The Bruins and Celtics will join Verizon Communications and Rapid7 as tenants in The Hub on Causeway office tower rising next to their home turf at TD Garden.
The Celtics signed a 180-month lease for over 71,000 square feet on the 12th and 13th floors of the 651,500-square-foot office tower, which is scheduled for completion in 2021.
And Bruins parent Delaware North Cos. signed a 184-month lease for the 14th floor, spanning 34,000 square feet, according to a filing with the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds. The Bruins front office recently moved into flex space within the office tower, pending a move to the permanent location, spokeswoman Tricia McCorkle said.
The Celtics front offices are located at 226 Causeway St., a 193,000-square-foot former Stop & Shop bakery converted into offices and condos.
“The move to 100 Causeway Street provides many unique benefits for us, including direct access to TD Garden, increased working space to house our growing business staff both now and in the future, and the opportunity to experience increased collaboration with two of our key partners in the TD Garden and Boston Bruins staffs,” Celtics Team President Rich Gotham said in a statement.
In July 2018, Verizon Communications signed on as anchor tenant of the 31-story office tower, which sits above a podium building occupied by Rapid7’s corporate headquarters.
Digital marketers Episilon had reportedly been close to a 180,000-square-foot lease for the bulk of the remaining tower space, according to real estate sources, but backed out following the company’s acquisition by Publicis Groupe last year.
A topping-off ceremony was held Dec. 20 marking the completion of structural components for the Gensler-designed tower by construction manager John Moriarty & Assoc. of Winchester.
Both teams recently relocated their training facilities to another mixed-use development on the outskirts of Boston, with the Bruins moving their practice rink from Wilmington to the Warrior Ice Arena at Boston Landing and the Celtics opening their new Auerbach Center at New Balance headquarters in 2018.
