Boston-based Vanderweil Engineers said that Robert Bucey, a mechanical engineer with more than 20 years of experience in building systems design and project management, has joined the firm as an associate principal.

Bucey has an extensive background in engineering for research, healthcare and government facilities, and in the design and implementation of commissioning and energy programs. He has joined Vanderweil’s national commissioning practice and will work from the Boston office.
Bucey previously worked as director of engineering for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was responsible for the overall management of the engineering department, composed of construction project managers, facility managers and utility managers.

Bucey holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He is a frequent speaker on trends and best practices in building systems commissioning and high-performance laboratory engineering.
