Nonprofit developer Homeowner’s Rehab Inc. has been given $2.82 million in permanent rental financing from the Massachusetts Housing Partnership to aid in the construction of 40 affordable rental housing units in Cambridge.

The Putnam Green complex, to be built on Putnam Avenue, will consist of two buildings with 12,000 square feet of open space and 28 underground parking spaces, according to a statement. The buildings will consist of 10 one-bedroom apartments, 20 two-bedroom apartments and 10 three-bedroom apartments.

The rental units will be made available to residents earning at or below 60 percent of the area median income.
