Cambridge Bancorp, the parent company of Cambridge Trust Co., reported net income of $10.28 million for 2009, representing an increase of $664,000 or 6.9 percent compared to net income of $9.61 million in 2008.
In the fourth quarter of 2009 net income was $2.63 million, an increase of $391,000, or 17.5 percent, compared to the same quarter in 2008.
"Our fourth quarter results were positively impacted by a continuing trend of strong net interest income and a rebound in wealth management fees," said Joseph V. Roller II, president and CEO.
In 2009, net interest income was $39 million compared to $34.3 million for 2008. The 13.6 percent increase in net interest income for the year was driven primarily by sustained loan growth, which was funded with core deposit inflows, coupled with a reduction in interest expense on deposits, according to a statement.
