NewtonSERVES is a community service day when more than 1,000 people will provide assistance at 150 sites around Newton, according to a statement. On May 15, volunteers will work throughout the city cleaning up parks, planting gardens, building and painting school bookshelves, cleaning nonprofit organizations and helping senior citizens.
