Cancer drug developer AVEO Pharmaceuticals has signed a 12-year lease for 126,000 square feet of laboratory and office space at 650 East Kendall Square in Cambridge.

The company will move its headquarters and primary research functions to the new location from 75 Sidney St. in Cambridge, according to BioMed Realty Trust, the REIT that owns the facility jointly with Prudential Real Estate Investors on behalf of institutional investors.

The building is a high-tech, six-story, 280,000-square-foot research facility with six levels of below-grade parking.

The lease arrangement was brokered by Boston commercial real estate firm Richards Barry Joyce & Partners. BioMed was represented by RBJ’s Steven Purpura, partner, and AVEO was represented by RBJ’s Jonathan Varholak, partner, and Eric Smith, senior vice president.
