Dorothy SavareseDorothy A. Savarese, president and CEO of The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, has been named one of this year’s "women to watch" by the editors of U.S. Banker and American Banker.

The group, which annually honors the "25 Most Powerful Women in Banking," will honor Savarese on Oct. 6 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair will be the keynote speaker.

Savarese is the 18th president and CEO of The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank. Following 12 years at Cape Cod Five, she took the helm in January 2005, as the first woman to assume the bank’s chief executive role.

She also serves as chairman of the bank’s board of trustees and board of investment, and chairman of The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Trust.

Savarese is involved in several community organizations, including serving on the board of directors and the executive committee of the Massachusetts Bankers Association.

She will be profiled in the next month’s issue of U.S. Banker.
