Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank was one of ten banks nationwide to receive an ABA Community Bank Award from the American Bankers Association (ABA), in recognition of its commitment to improve financial literacy.
Cape Cod Five was recognized for its "array of outstanding financial education initiatives to help improve financial literacy for both youth and seniors in the communities it serves," the ABA said in a statement. "Their initiatives, including a longitudinal study with 8th grade students, after school programs, their Credit for Life programs and seminars for senior citizens have impacted over 3,700 people."
The 2012 awards were presented in seven categories, ranging from improving financial literacy to reaching out to the underserved. Winners were announced at ABA’s National Conference for Community Bankers in Palm Desert, Calif., last night.
The ABA selection committee selected 10 banks from a field of approximately 200 nominations based on the innovation, creativity and effectiveness of the bank’s approach to making a difference in its community, according to a statement. The ABA Community Bank Awards program was established in 2005 to commend community banks’ exceptional charitable achievements.
