Capstone Communities LLC, a Cambridge-based real estate development company, will officially break ground on the redevelopment of 124 Montello St. in downtown Brockton tomorrow.
The Station Lofts project will rehabilitate a vacant, historic factory building into 25 mixed-income apartments.
The building was previously occupied by the Stall & Dean Co., one of the oldest sporting goods manufacturers in the United States. Stall & Dean manufactured hockey and baseball equipment and uniforms in the building. It is believed that the baseball catcher’s mitt was invented in the building, according to a statement from the developer.
