James Carlson, the long-time leader of SCU Credit Union and one of its predecessors, is stepping down from his role as president and CEO.

Glenn Parsons, will take over as president and CEO on Monday, SCU Credit Union said in a statement. Parsons has been the credit union’s board chair since 2019.

Carlson will work for the Brockton-based SCU Credit Union in an advisory role until his retirement next February, the statement said. He has led the former Sharon Credit Union and SCU Credit Union for 22 years. When Sharon Credit Union and Crescent Credit Union merged in 2020 to create Sharon & Crescent United Credit Union, Carlson continued as leader of the combined institution.

Parsons has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across multiple disciplines, the statement said. He has experience in technology software, network security, communications, business development and strategic negotiations.

Parsons is an adjunct professor of business at Lasell University.
