Boston-based architectural and engineering firm CBI Consulting Inc. has been awarded a contract for additional design work by the city of Waltham for elderly housing at the former Hardy Elementary School at 51 Lake St.
CBI originally was retained last fall to provide interior and exterior design renovation of the former school for new use as an elderly housing facility.
CBI will design kitchen and bathroom replacements and all other finishes for the elderly housing units, which will be available to those aged 62 or older.
The Hardy School was leased by the city of Waltham to Bentley College in 2005, at which time the facility was converted into dormitory space. The college recently constructed dorms on campus, freeing up the former elementary school for use as elderly housing.
"We’re pleased to be involved with this important project," said Michael Teller, a principal at CBI Consulting Inc. "With the proper upgrades soon in place, this facility can continue to serve the city of Waltham in a different and significant way as housing for senior citizens."
