The charitable arm of commercial real estate services company CB Richard Ellis/New England, CBRE Cares New England, has collected more than $200,000 worth of goods for regional nonprofits since its launch in 2010.
"CBRE Cares New England is dedicated to supporting the local communities where we live and work each day," said Andy Hoar, president and co-managing partner of CBRE/NE. "Throughout the past year, CBRE Cares New England engaged coordinated charitable events at corporate and managed properties that collected a total of over $200,000 worth of donated goods and financial donations for local nonprofit organizations. Even in hard times, people can come together to help one another."
The organization collected 2,400 items for a housewares for the homeless donation drive. Beneficiary organizations included: Heading Home, Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, New Horizons, Crossroads, My Sister’s Place, Lynn Shelter Association, Conway House, Father Bill’s and Middlesex Human Service Agency.
In conjunction with a variety of local food pantries affiliated with Feeding America, CBRE Cares New England facilitated a food drive to collect and distribute non-perishable goods to families in need across New England. Donation stations were established in each of the participating buildings and a total of approximately 4,300 pounds of food were collected in the fight against hunger. Benefiting organizations included Greater Boston Food Bank of Boston and Loaves & Fishes Ministries of Hartford.
During the holiday season, CBRE Cares New England organized a Toys For Tots/gift giving drive. More than 3,000 gifts were collected on behalf of the U.S. Marine Toys For Tots and other beneficiary organizations.
