A question to repeal the state’s affordable-housing law will appear on the November ballot.

The Massachusetts Secretary of State’s office notified the Coalition to Repeal 40B this morning that it had achieved the 11,099 signatures necessary to put the question before voters in the fall, according to published reports.

Chapter 40B allows developers to bypass certain local approvals in communities where less than 10 percent of the housing stock is deemed affordable, in exchange for allocating at least 20 percent of a project’s units to lower-income households.
