Delaware-based Chase Home Finance LLC has been given a $60,000 penalty from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) for failing to meet cleanup deadlines from a fuel oil release at a home on Indian Lake Parkway in Worcester.

In 2009, Chase, was also penalized $13,070 for failing to take timely cleanup actions at the Worcester property, according to a statement. Chase was ordered to hire a licensed site professional, submit release notification documentation and perform site assessment activities to determine the extent of the fuel oil contamination. Chase failed to perform the required assessment activities.

The newly assessed $60,000 penalty is a result of Chase’s failure to comply with the 2009 order. The company has since conducted the necessary assessment activities and completed cleanup of the site.

"Consent order deadlines are agreed upon by all involved parties," said Martin Suuberg, director for MassDEP’s central regional office in Worcester. "MassDEP enforces these deadlines as stipulated, and failure to meet them will result in serious consequences."
