Peter Polhemus, president and CEO of Chatham-based Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders, has been named the 2010 National Custom Home Builder of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

The award recognizes the skill, craftsmanship and organization of a firm that creates custom homes, according to a statement. The winner is honored for leadership and business practices within that firm and for leadership in the industry and community as a whole.

"We are honored to be the first company in New England and also the first truly integrated architectural and building firm to receive this prestigious award," said Polhemus. "We thank our extraordinary clients for giving us the opportunity to do great work. I am very proud of our team and its profound commitment to excellence in design, construction and client satisfaction."
